HISTORY

The operating principle of the TESLABRUSH™ is based on an invention by the famous Nicola Tesla at the end of the 19th century. In the first half of the 20th century many versions of this invention were used by both medical doctors and patients alike. Different shaped glass electrodes were devised for the intended healing of nearly any bodily ailment. Towards the middle of the 20th century this type of medical approach was not considered scientific enough and gave way to an ever increasing number of medicinal pills, while electrotherapy gradually got classified as quackery. This process was facilitated by a few companies, who made all kinds of unsubstantiated claims regarding their devices, to the extent that the authorities had to step in.  And yet, even legal action against those companies by the FDA could not stop the use of this kind of electrotherapy totally, especially in Europe, because of the clearly evident therapeutic benefits, particularly regarding skin, hair loss and pain related issues.

Towards the end of the 20th century interest in these devices grew again. A number of products emerged especially from China for use in salons and spas. These hand-held units could not be made available on the open market, as they lacked approval by the regulatory authorities regarding safety and electrical interference. Problems regarding reliability and efficiency, combined with the frequent need to replace the easily breakable glass electrodes, made the devices not very appealing and therefore broader interest was limited.

With new 21st century technology the picture is changing. It is now possible to overcome the above mentioned limitations economically and manufacture small affordable robust hand held battery operated devices, which satisfy all mandatory requirements of CSA, UL, CE and many others. Therefore the TESLABRUSH™ is the first of its kind worldwide.
